Guwahati is a bustling city located in the state of Assam, in Northeast India, known for its rich culture and historical significance. Meghalaya, on the other hand, is a beautiful state known as the “abode of clouds,” famous for its stunning landscapes, waterfalls, and scenic views.
The Gateway to the North-East, Guwahati, is pleased to have you. From the train or airport in Guwahati, pick up. Assisting the guest in boarding the car for the forward trip to the hotel in Guwahati, our representative will welcome them. Sometime after Lunch, head out to the famous Purva Tirupati Sri Balaji Temple. Visit the Brahmaputra heritage center and then go for a river cruise in the evening to see the sun set over the Brahmaputra River if time permits. You are then free to explore the region or travel to a nearby market. Spend the night in Guwahati. Dinner @ River Cruise is optional at additional cost.
Visit the Kamakhya Temple, Assam's most important shrine, in the early morning hours. It is located atop the Nilachal Hills. The Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, Assam, hosts the Ambubachi Mela, an annual Hindu mela (gathering). During the monsoon season, this mela is observed. Then drive back to the hotel for breakfast. Checkout from the hotel and transfer to Shillong. On the way halt at the Borapani Umiam Lake, a tranquil lake surrounded by sylvan hills with a mesmerizing view. Then check in at pre booked hotel for comfortable night stay at Shillong.
In the wake of breakfast and check-out. Head to the Laitlum Canyons, which are a scenic location from which to view and admire Meghalaya's vast, lush, and fascinating panorama. This exotic location is relatively less commercialised and crowded than other nearby areas, making it a tranquil, private location for some quiet, peaceful moments. The most magnificent waterfall you've ever seen, KrangSuri, is the next stop on the itinerary. It's graced with glistening blue waters and dazzling sunlight. Spend the night at the Dawki Hotel.
During a boat ride, explore the Umgnot River's scenic splendour and location close to the Indo-Bangladesh border. Dawki's key attractions include the Umngot River's pristine waters, its green surroundings, and its traditional way of life. Next, head to Mawlynnong Village, a charming and pristine neighbourhood that has been declared the cleanest hamlet in Asia. The Riwai Living Root Bridge is a natural root bridge that may be found in the Meghalayan village of Riwai. It is a natural wonder of Meghalaya and one of the major attractions in Mawlynnong. Check in at the Cherapunji hotel for a peaceful night's sleep.
After breakfast, head towards the double Decker Root Bridge located in the thick tropical forest of Meghalaya, cloaked with rain during most parts of the year, are the fantastic man-made cum natural wonders of the living root bridges. These living bridges are grown from a special type of rubber tree. Feel the suave attitude of the Khasi hills while you trek through it and experience the difference. Then trek back to Cherapunji to the pre booked hotel for the overnight stay. Later in the evening, further guest will be transferred to Cherapunji for overnight stay.
Post-breakfast and check-out, take a journey to surrounding attractions such the Nohkalikai Waterfall, the Eco Park, Mawsmai Cave, Seven Sisters Falls, etc. after breakfast and before you leave. On the trip to Guwahati, take sure to appreciate the natural splendour of the Mawdok Valley and the Elephant Falls. Finish the day at your Guwahati hotel.
After a leisurely breakfast, you will be transferred to Guwahati Airport. Catch a flight to an onward destination with pleasant memories of North East India.
