Gangtok is the capital of the mountainous northern Indian state of Sikkim. Established as a Buddhist pilgrimage site in the 1840s, the city became the capital of an independent monarchy after British rule ended, but joined India in 1975. Darjeeling is a town in India’s West Bengal state, in the Himalayan foothills. Once a summer resort for the British Raj elite, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or “Toy Train,” completed in 1881.
Receive & greet at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) & further transfer to Gangtok and check-in at your pre booked hotel. Evening is free for leisure. In the evening visit local marketplace & try local cuisines, & relax in the charismatic environment. Overnight stay at Hotel in Gangtok.
Post breakfast proceed for a full day excursion tour of Gangtok covering the picturesque Tsomgo Lake that has an average depth of 50 ft. Spend some blissful moments at the banks of this serene lake and enjoy the mesmerising scenic beauty of the surrounding hills and pine trees. Next, seek blessings at Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, the renowned holy sanctum of Gangtok. Return to the hotel for a overnight stay. Optional: An inclusion of a detour to Nathula Pass to make your Sikkim tour more exciting (charges extra).
After breakfast start for a full day sightseeing of Gangtok. Here are the places guest will visit:
1. Tashi Viewpoint: This viewpoint offers a panoramic view of the
Kanchenjunga mountain range.
2. Ganesh Tok: A small temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh, located at
an altitude of 6,500 ft.
3. Hanuman Tok: Another temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, located
at an altitude of 7,200 ft.
4. Enchey Monastery: A Buddhist monastery built in the 19th century,
known for its architecture and religious significance.
5. Institute of Tibetology: A research institute and museum that
houses a vast collection of Tibetan artifacts, manuscripts, and
thangkas (traditional Tibetan paintings).
6. Flower Exhibition Centre: A center that showcases a variety of
flowers, including rare and exotic species.
7. Handicraft Centre: A center that promotes traditional handicrafts
of Sikkim, such as thangkas, carpets, wood carvings, and handloom
products.
Later return to the hotel for overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to Darjeeling and check into the prebooked hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.
Early morning at around 6:30 AM drive to 8000 feet / 2440 meters through primitive forests of oak, and magnolia to Tiger Hill to view sunrise over Kanchendzonga Peak (subject to clear weather). On the way back visit Ghoom Monastery, Peace memorial & Batasia Loop. Back to the hotel for breakfast. After breakfast next round of sightseeing. Half Day city tour includes Padmaja Naidu Zoological Park, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday), Ropeway, Tensing Gumpo Rock, Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center (Closed on Sunday), Tea Estate, Natural History Museum (Sunday Closed), Peace Pagoda. Back to the hotel.Evening free to stroll around the Mall area or Chowk Bazaar. Overnight stay at Darjeeling.
Post breakfast checkout from the hotel and proceed for New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP)/ Bagdogra (IXB). Board your train/flight for your onward destination with cheerful memories of your Sikkim Darjeeling holiday.
